Someone once said that a hug was invented to let people know you love them without saying a word. I believe that’s true because one good hug says so much. No words are necessary. A good silent hug says it all. When people talk about the importance of good communication they often forget to mention hugging. Hugging is perhaps the most beautiful and the most powerful form of communication there is because it lets the other person know they matter. It expresses love and caring. Sometimes when you really need a hug and someone comes and hugs you tight, you just don’t want to let go because it feels so good and means so much. Never underestimate the power of a hug. Just one good hug is worth more than a thousand words. You don’t have to say a word.... just hug.
I am not always (seldom) comfortable with hugging. But I know others are. It has caused problems in the past. But one thing I started, years and years ago, is tell people “consider yourself hugged!” and it has often times led to smiles and laughter. 🙂
…and a manly hug to you!

And like a smile, a hug costs nothing to give yet can be priceless to receive. Sending you big hugs today and everyday Dad!
