Since this is National Reading Challenge Month, this blog is going to be a little different. I enjoy writing poems about what I call The Alphabet Children, children in Miss Prim’s Middle School classroom. Each child is quite unique and a real challenge to Miss Prim (that’s an understatement). Anyway, I thought I would share one of the poems that deals with reading. If by chance you would like to read more about Miss Prim’s unique students, let me know.

A boy named Humphrey Higgins Hook
Said he would NEVER read a book.
He wouldn’t even take a look
At pictures in a picture book.
But clever was Miss Prim, indeed.
She wanted Humphrey to succeed,
So she wrote a clever little book
About a boy named Humphrey Hook.
This made Humphrey curious indeed.
In fact, it made him want to read
About the boy named Humphrey Hook.
Ms Prim got him “hooked”., Indeed !
A Most enjoyable poem, Dr Joy Finder. Thank you 😊
