WASTED TIME OR LEISURE TIME – YOU DECIDE

I learned something new yesterday that shocked me. I read some research that said Americans tend to WASTE TIME in the SAME WAY…..EVERY DAY! The article explained that there’s a DIFFERENCE between LEISURE TIME and WASTED TIME. LEISURE TIME is purposeful relaxation and enjoyment. It’s good for you. WASTED TIME is….. well, just a waste of time. Hmmmm…… The article further said that TIME WASTED IS LIFE WASTED. We’re wasting hunks of our life every single day. WOW! We’re not only wasting time every day, we’re doing it in the SAME WAY. OVER and OVER. It’s like a bad habit….an addiction. … Continue reading WASTED TIME OR LEISURE TIME – YOU DECIDE

EACH DAY THERE IS A PATH OF ADVENTURE TO ENJOY

Each morning I get up, get my cup of coffee, walk through the sunroom, open the patio door, step outside and view the pathway that leads through the arch and into the woods. I look forward to the ADVENTURE that each day brings. Perhaps it seems unusual, but that’s what I like about this wonderful, crazy life. Each day the path leads to ADVENTURE. I’m never sure where it’s going, but that adds to the mystery, to the joy and excitement of life. I don’t want a package tour. I want to let the path take me to whatever the … Continue reading EACH DAY THERE IS A PATH OF ADVENTURE TO ENJOY

THERE’S SOMEONE SUPER INSIDE OF YOU

In 1952 a new show, ”SUPERMAN” premiered on television. It was an instant hit. Perhaps its popularity was because it sparked in us a belief….a hope….a dream that there’s someone “SUPER” inside of us… that inside of EVERY ONE OF US is SOMEONE VERY SPECIAL and all we have to do is find “the nearest phone booth,” “change clothes,” and let the SPECIAL PERSON come out… and suddenly we are able to do something we’ve never done before… WE CAN FLY! WE CAN SOAR TO NEW HEIGHTS! WE CAN RISE ABOVE WHERE WE ARE! WE CAN DO WHAT WE THOUGHT … Continue reading THERE’S SOMEONE SUPER INSIDE OF YOU

WHAT REALLY MATTERS IN LIFE

The older I get the more I think about what really matters in life.  My thinking has changed over the years, which is to be expected since experiences in life have a way of helping us to adjust how we view things. So what really matters?  Here’s a list to ponder. RELATIONSHIPS.  Be realistic about life.  It’s not going to go on forever.  There will come a day when you will see no more sunrises, no more sunsets.  So make the most of every day.  Focus on what’s important — relationships.  Cultivate them with care and stay connected with the … Continue reading WHAT REALLY MATTERS IN LIFE

LEAVE THEM SOME GOOD MEMORIES

I’ve heard people say, ”At least she lived a full life.” or ”He’s fortunate.  He had a full life.” Hmmm….it makes me wonder…. What in the world is a FULL LIFE? Some say it’s achieving everything you dreamed of, or…. helping others achieve what they dreamed of, or… having no regrets on your deathbed, or… leaving the world a little better than you found it. A global survey by Abbott asked 2 million people around the world what ONE THING made them feel MOST FULFILLED IN LIFE. Their answers, in order of preference, were… FAMILY, SUCCESS, and HEALTH. Interestingly, SPIRITUALITY … Continue reading LEAVE THEM SOME GOOD MEMORIES

IT’S OKAY TO SOMETIMES ACT SQUIRRELY

I admit I have a love-hate relationship with squirrels. Some days they’re cute and funny, other days they’re a nuisance as they attack our bird feeders. Most days they’re just plain squirrels — jumpy, nutty, flighty, unpredictable, scurrying around in a mildly insane manner. But let me admit something right here — the other day when I was scurrying around being flighty, acting a little nutty, maybe acting mildly insane, like I do on occasion…. I thought, “Just look at me. I’m acting squirrely.” My dad had another name for it — “Acting like a chicken with its head cut … Continue reading IT’S OKAY TO SOMETIMES ACT SQUIRRELY

DOESN’T EVERYONE NEED A LITTLE NOSTALGIA?

Nostalgia, noun: ”A bittersweet longing for things, persons, or situations of the past; a twinge in the heart more powerful than memory alone; a feeling of a place where we ache to go again.” Yes….nostalgia….I love it. I love creeping into the recesses of my mind…. traveling back to the days that once were…. pulling out slices of my life to enjoy…. nothing more….just enjoy…. simply remembering things that warm my heart. On this day I remember the  old pump  out by the barn. Oh, the twinges I feel when I recall grasping that long iron handle and pumping water for … Continue reading DOESN’T EVERYONE NEED A LITTLE NOSTALGIA?
