DISCOVERING THE SWEETNESS OF LIFE

Early I arose as dawn kissed the morning dew, and on my patio with coffee in hand, I noticed a flash of rainbow lightening, a glimpse of invisible iridescent wings darting and diving from flower to flower. What a treat to start my day, observing a dancing, dazzling hummingbird that had fortuitously come my way. As I watched this wonder of nature, dozens of words flashed through my mind that seemed to capture what I saw the hummingbird doing…. words like darting, dashing, discovering, and finally drinking a flower’s sweet nectar, then dashing off to another. Oh, that my day … Continue reading DISCOVERING THE SWEETNESS OF LIFE

THE BEST WAY TO REFLECT YOUR TRUE SELF

Water can BEST REFLECT a clear image of the trees and sky when its surface is clear, calm and undisturbed. Likewise, a person’s mind can BEST REFLECT a true image of the SELF when it’s relaxed, undisturbed by turmoil, and at peace. To relax takes discipline. To be free of turmoil takes discipline. To be at peace takes spiritual discipline. In other words the best way to clear your mind so you can BEST REFLECT who you are, your true SELF, and let others know you better, is to practice three things:  DISCIPLNE, DISCIPLINE, DISCIPLINE. And what is DISCIPLINE? SIMPY … Continue reading THE BEST WAY TO REFLECT YOUR TRUE SELF

SOMETIMES WE GIGGLE WHEN WE SHOULD NOT

As mentioned in an earlier post, I enjoy writing about the Alphabet Children in Miss Prim’s middle school class.  Earlier I wrote about Humphrey Higgins Hook, a boy who refused to read a book. Today, I’m sharing about little Pixie Piggle who tried hard not to giggle.  If you’re like me, you can identify. PIXIE PIGGLE giggled when she should not. The more she tried not to, the worse it got. When Mayor May came to school one day To give a talk on safety while at play, Pixie Piggle giggled at what he had to say. The mayor was … Continue reading SOMETIMES WE GIGGLE WHEN WE SHOULD NOT

WHAT ROSEMARY GAVE TO ME TO BRIGHTEN MY DAY

SOME DAYS BRING HEAVINESS. And it’s easy to let my attitude whirl out of whack and turn negative. But……oh….. What an early morning walk in the garden will do to brighten my day. Rosemary is there to greet me. I touch her gently and she responds with a gift of sweet aroma so fresh and fragrant that I can’t help but be grateful for such a blessing… for such a friend in the garden. Rosemary reminds me of how blessed I am…. and my attitude changes. I breathe in the frangrance, pause and reflect, and say to myself… May I … Continue reading WHAT ROSEMARY GAVE TO ME TO BRIGHTEN MY DAY

SEARCH FOR PEARLS AFTER THE STORM

The mighty hurricane came — powerful, forceful, destructive. Yet in their despair people found things to be thankful for. Beneath the ravagaing storm in the depths of the sea lie precious  pearls. No matter how fierce the storm, the pearls are always there. The mighty storms in life are often similar — powerful, forceful, destructive. It helps to be prepared for them. And to remember that in the depths of every storm raged problem lie precious pearls. When the storms in life come, search for the pearls. They’re always there.
