SOMETIMES WE GIGGLE WHEN WE SHOULD NOT

As mentioned in an earlier post, I enjoy writing about the Alphabet Children in Miss Prim’s middle school class.  Earlier I wrote about Humphrey Higgins Hook, a boy who refused to read a book. Today, I’m sharing about little Pixie Piggle who tried hard not to giggle.  If you’re like me, you can identify. PIXIE PIGGLE giggled when she should not. The more she tried not to, the worse it got. When Mayor May came to school one day To give a talk on safety while at play, Pixie Piggle giggled at what he had to say. The mayor was … Continue reading SOMETIMES WE GIGGLE WHEN WE SHOULD NOT

WHAT ROSEMARY GAVE TO ME TO BRIGHTEN MY DAY

SOME DAYS BRING HEAVINESS. And it’s easy to let my attitude whirl out of whack and turn negative. But……oh….. What an early morning walk in the garden will do to brighten my day. Rosemary is there to greet me. I touch her gently and she responds with a gift of sweet aroma so fresh and fragrant that I can’t help but be grateful for such a blessing… for such a friend in the garden. Rosemary reminds me of how blessed I am…. and my attitude changes. I breathe in the frangrance, pause and reflect, and say to myself… May I … Continue reading WHAT ROSEMARY GAVE TO ME TO BRIGHTEN MY DAY

THERE’S POWER IN THE PAUSE

HURRICANE. DEVASTATION EVERYTHING GONE. What do we do when tough times hit? Nature and man can take everything away from us…. Everything…….EXCEPT…… OUR FREEDOM TO CHOOSE HOW WE WILL RESPOND. How we CHOOSE to respond to an event or circumstance in our lives CANNOT BE TAKEN AWAY FROM US unless we ALLOW it. Between the EVENT and our RESPONSE IS A PAUSE It is in THAT PAUSE that we have the POWER TO CHOOSE OUR RESPONSE. And it is in our RESPONSE that we EXERCISE OUR FREEDOM TO CHOOSE,,,,,, AND GROW AS A PERSON. Continue reading THERE’S POWER IN THE PAUSE

SEARCH FOR PEARLS AFTER THE STORM

The mighty hurricane came — powerful, forceful, destructive. Yet in their despair people found things to be thankful for. Beneath the ravagaing storm in the depths of the sea lie precious  pearls. No matter how fierce the storm, the pearls are always there. The mighty storms in life are often similar — powerful, forceful, destructive. It helps to be prepared for them. And to remember that in the depths of every storm raged problem lie precious pearls. When the storms in life come, search for the pearls. They’re always there. Continue reading SEARCH FOR PEARLS AFTER THE STORM

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO BLOOM

What a surprise I got on this beautiful Autumn Day as I walked through the garden. There, proudly BLOOMING, was a single purple coneflower…. a Late Bloomer. It made me think about life and how it’s never too late to BLOOM. It’s perfectly okay to be a LATE BLOOMER. After all, NOT EVERYONE BLOOMS in life, so to BLOOM at all, ever, even late, is something remarkable. BLOOM in your own time — just BLOOM. Continue reading IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO BLOOM

PARABLE OF THE WOMAN WHO WAS GIVEN THREE CHOICES

An old woman who lived a lonely, unhappy life, awoke one morning to find a stranger at her door. The stranger said to her, “I have come to give you three CHOICES and only three. CHOOSE the three things that YOU VALUE MOST IN LIFE  and they will be granted but, once you choose, all other things you value in life will be stripped away.  They will be gone forever.  You have just one day to make your choices. I will be back tomorrow to hear your choices.” The old woman went to her favorite chair and sat down.  “I … Continue reading PARABLE OF THE WOMAN WHO WAS GIVEN THREE CHOICES

FOUR THINGS A WISE PERSON SAID TO ME

A WISE PERSON ONCE SAID TO ME, ”My friend, within you, and within all human beings, are FOUR important gifts: A CREATIVE IMAGINATION that has no limits and allows you to dream dreams as high as the sky and as wide and deep as the ocean; A CONSCIENCE to guide you in all of your decisions and actions; STRENGTH to carry you through all the storms and hurdles in life; POWER to choose what is best for you, to change and grow as a person, to be happy and fulfilled. Think deeply about what I have said to you. GO … Continue reading FOUR THINGS A WISE PERSON SAID TO ME
