The older I get,
the harder it is to say goodbye to the people I love.
Yet I try to be realistic.
Time may last forever but LIfe does not.
All we have to work with and enjoy is
“in between”
HELLO and GOODBYE.
It’s what we do with the
“in between”
that counts
and where our focus should be.
It’s the “in between”
that makes us feel fortunate
to have had the
OPPORTUNITY to LOVE someone
who is hard to say GOODBYE to.
Though the distance
“in between”
may be close or far away,
OPPORTUNITY
allows us to
DO SOMETHING meaningful with the
”in between”
and not take it for granted
or let it slip idly by.
TIME may be forever
but LIFE is not.
So true!

Thank you, Carol. Our daughter, Claudia, left to go back to New Zealand yesterday, so goodbye was on my mind.

Well said Dad. Your post reminded me that what happens between our initial hello at birth and good-bye at passing is what we call life, and in that sense, every day we wake we have the opportunity to ‘say hello’ to those we love in some way. Releasing my physical hug with you at the airport was heart-wrenching no doubt, yet today I smile again because I am so grateful I have the ability with modern technology to make the best of our ‘in-between’ until we hug again. Thank you for a lifetime of love and joy at hellos, good-byes and everywhere ‘in-between’.
