I learned something new yesterday
that shocked me.
I read some research that said
Americans tend to WASTE TIME
in the SAME WAY…..EVERY DAY!
The article explained that
there’s a DIFFERENCE between
LEISURE TIME and WASTED TIME.
LEISURE TIME is purposeful
relaxation and enjoyment.
It’s good for you.
WASTED TIME is…..
well, just a waste of time.
Hmmmm……
The article further said that
TIME WASTED IS LIFE WASTED.
We’re wasting hunks of our life
every single day.
WOW!
We’re not only wasting time every day,
we’re doing it in the SAME WAY.
OVER and OVER.
It’s like a bad habit….an addiction.
We can’t stop wasting time.
Wasting time is like
watering dead plants.
Now that’s down right graphic,
but it sure makes a point.
TIME WASTED IS LIFE WASTED.
LEISURE TIME is not wasted time.
And here’s the clincher that got me….
Are you ready for this?
When people waste time
they tend to get down on themselves.
They get upset that they wasted time
and they do a number on themselves.
The even get MAD at themselves!
It’s not good to do this to ourselves.
It ain’t healthy, folks.
And here’s the clincher of clinchers.
The older you get the more quiet you become.
Life tends to humble you as you age.
You come to realize
YOU’VE WASTED TIME ON NONSENSE.
You live with REGRETS.
SO WHAT’S THE ANSWER?
First of all, if you WANT to WASTE TIME,
it’s up to you…..it’s YOUR CHOICE.
But if you want to CHANGE THINGS,
and BREAK THE HABIT OF WASTING TIME,
simply fill the time with OTHER THINGS….
things you WANT to do,
things that BRING YOU JOY,
including all the LEISURE THINGS
you ENJOY doing,
things that make you
FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF
when you do them,
instead of getting upset with yourself.
YOU CAN DO IT!
Two definitions to ponder.
Definition of LEISURE:
”Time free from the demands of work or duty;
when one can REST, RELAX, ENJOY HOBBIES, ACTIVITES, ETC.“
Definition of WASTE OF TIME”
”The devotion of time to USELESS ACTIVITY,
UNPRODUCTIVE, PROFITLESS, FRUITLESS.”
Hmmmm……..
Darn those habits, especially the ones that we do in the same way everyday, that give us the same results we may or may not actually want or need to experience. I believe time is on our side however. We can change up the time we do what we do when we’d really rather be doing something more productive.
In my opinion, even the things I’m keen on doing which others might consider time-wasters are OK by me as long as I’ve productively accomplished things I need to be doing 1st. So, I change the habit by changing the time. If nothing else, it gives my thoughts a leisurely break!!!
