I admit I have a love-hate relationship
with squirrels.
Some days they’re cute and funny,
other days they’re a nuisance
as they attack our bird feeders.
Most days they’re just plain squirrels —
jumpy, nutty, flighty, unpredictable,
scurrying around in a mildly insane manner.
But let me admit something right here —
the other day when I was scurrying around
being flighty, acting a little nutty,
maybe acting mildly insane,
like I do on occasion….
I thought, “Just look at me. I’m acting squirrely.”
My dad had another name for it —
“Acting like a chicken with its head cut off.”
But you know what?
Sometimes it’s okay.
There’s no reason to fret about it.
That’s who I am.
And I give myself permission
to be a little crazy sometimes — a little squirrely.
After all, if the squirrels can act squirrely,
so can I.
Love it! My folks used the “ chicken with its head cut off” expression too.

My dad used to say “are all girls squirrelly or are all squirrelly people girls?” There were 3 girls and 5 boys and he said it to us girls all the time. 🙂 Thanks for reminding me of that. 🙂

Ok, Dr Joy Finder….
I’ll try to think more kindly of these otherwise troublesome critters, and , if I could, would ship them off for you & Mur to enjoy…
Thanks for giving us the green light to “act squirrely” 😊. Loved it ❤️
