There’s a chair on my patio.
It’s empty.
I promise myself
That I will sit in it more often
Because…..
When I sit in the chair I relax
And give myself permission
To drift into a different state of mind.
To shut out the worries of the day.
To shut out busy thoughts
And take the time……..
To look up and soak in the beautiful blue sky.
And the soft cumulus clouds drifting by.
I study the intricate design of the mighty oak tree.
I tilt my head back and feel the whisper of a breeze.
I notice the red impatiens
And the lavender azaleas,
And the purple clematis
Climbing the trellis.
And oh the joy
Of hearing the chorus of birds
Singing their morning song.
That chair is so empty
And life is so fleeting.
I think EVERYONE HAS AN EMPTY CHAIR.
Let’s promise to sit it in more often.
Could it be your chair is like a wine glass? Always half full waiting for you to sit in. Not empty. Most people don’t take the time to notice what’s above, below, or around. How could it be empty with what you discovered while sitting there? It’s full of life and an invitation to sit and enjoy.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. You’ve made a good point. I do try to see life like a half full glass of wine or water, not half empty. Thankfully, WHEN I DO sit in my chair, I am aware of all that’s around me. I just need to do it more often.

Denver, thank you for your kind comments and insights. I definitely know that YOU know what all is involved in creating layouts, etc. There’s so much you could teach me. I’m a novice at all of this, but I’m enjoying the challenge. Love you, too.

Exquisite imagery of the remarkably peaceful places we can travel if we allow the time for it!
